why?

why do people so blindly work themselves into a mess? why do they insist that they know the way out? why is it so hard for us to admit that we don't always know what's best for us -- that most of the time we know nothing of it? eventually, once we work ourselves into the most tangled mess possible, we figure out that we can't do it on our own. but why wait so long? don't we realize that it hurts more to wait than it does to admit it early on and accept the fact that we don't know what's best for ourselves? can't we just put our pride aside and ask for assistance? are we really that sure of ourselves; are we really that prideful? let's face it; we need help here. when we stop fighting against the tangles in which we have woven ourselves, put down the sword, wave our white flag in surrender, and call out for backup, we receive it. all it takes is a little humility.
Prov. 11:2 "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom."

Prov. 15:33

it worries me

that the people around me are slowly falling victim to the enemy of our lives. you can say they don't know better; you can say they have no excuse for being the way they are. you can call it whatever you want; the truth is that they are unable to see for themselves at this point. if they could see the immediate as well as the long-term consequences of their desires, they may think twice. for so many who fight this battle, they remain unaware that they are even in a war, much less in the center of action on the battle field. and where are we in this situation? covering our beloved people and protecting them by attacking their opponent? or are we watching from our living rooms, complaining about how stupid their war is when we ourselves aren't involved? what kind of friends are we? rather, what kind of people do we believe we are in all this? if we cannot intercede for these people who cannot see for themselves, we are as good as blind; he who can see among the blind is of no use if he does not warn those without vision of the dangers around them. what kind of friend are you?

07/28/09

as the way is set for me,
so it is for you as well
though it may be hard to fathom
it is the truth

the roads may be different
they may run parallel
or they may cross
or be one
or have nothing to do with one another

either way, we are on our own journeys
whether our destinations are the same or not,
it does not matter

as long as the wind remains in your hair
and the sun on your face
and a smile on your lips
and one hand on the wheel
it is done

don't worry about changing roads
or getting lost along the way
just follow yours until it meets its end.

realizacion numero uno

it has at last hit me that the events of the past hold little significance. yes, they serve as the bricks of the road that got me to where i am right now, but the actual event doesn't matter. whether they were good things that brought happiness or events with little goodness that brought sorrow, they are not important. what matters now is the current situation and what will be made of it. standing at the crossroads, the questions occur: but which way will i choose? and what will each road lead me to? will this be good for me, or bad? will this bring me life, or death? sometimes it is unknown, ultimately... but the truth is that one's own instincts should not typically be trusted. i say this not to condemn anyone, but rather to express a recent thought... i don't expect you to understand my reference.

facebook poetry

batting eyelashes
twisted apologies
mangled veins
and hearts and brains
"teach me a new song"
they sing, so eagerly
but it doesn't come this easily;
first you must wash away the dirt
from the strings of the heart
and then clear the dusty clouds
from the busy brain
remove the tangled lies
from the insincere apologies
and leave the batting eyelashes
for the careless and deceitful
at last, you have found
for what you so deeply longed
but... do you remember what it was?
